The Australian Army Museum, Bandiana, has an outstanding variety of vehicles in its collection. Here is a long wheel base landrover modified for use as a long-range patroller for Australia's north. Sharing some similar features with the famous British SAS Long Range Desert Group "Pink Panther" Landrovers, the vehicles are obviously designed for similar purposes. Of particular interest are the extra fuel tank in the centre of the body, the roll-over protection, the pintle for mounting a weapon and the extra stowage built-in around the rear cabin. The racks on the front guards may be alternative sand-mat carriers.
