Dassault Mirage IIIO Walkaround Gallery

Dassault Mirage IIIO A3-45 RAAF ANAM 2005

Here is a Mirage walkaround of the IIO A3-45 we have at Moorabbin Museum. There are a few bits and pieces missing that we are trying to source including a belly tank and some UC doors. The guys only recently got the engine installed. It’s a big imporovement over looking down a hollow tube. The RAAF operated a total of 188 single and two seat Mirages. A3-45 served with all operational squadrons that flew Mirages. The IIIO variant was unique to Australia. The O stands for ‘Orstralia, believe it or not! Apparently the Israeli Mirage IIIJ was for “Jewish” and the South African Mirages used Z for “Zulu”. Ah, those wild and crazy French! I had planned to produce a comprehensive set of Mirage drawings but then the Mushroom Mirage IIIO book came out with a full set of colour illustrations from Juanita Franzi, so there wasn’t much point! This explains the number of shots in this walkaround too.
