Australian national Aviation Museum (ANAM) is probably better known as Moorabbin Air Museum. In fact that title still sits on the side of the main hangar. The running body is the Australian Aircraft Restoration Group, or AARG. Don't be confused, they are all one and the same. The Moorabbin Air Museum came into existence in 1962, originally to preserve a Beaufighter that was to be scrapped. That aircraft still forms the centrepiece of the Museum's collection. The ANAM is actively involved in preserving and restoring aircraft that are significant to Australia's aviation heritage. There are currently around 24 aircraft on-site with a few more elsewhere undergoing restoration. The museum also has a collection of aero engines and other displays of aeronautica.
